Getting Started with Companion
This guide will walk you through setting up Companion (your personal AI assistant) to utilize pre-loaded models and your deployed LLM flows from Navigator.
Difference Between Chatting in Navigator vs Companion
You will notice when you click Run inside of a Canvas within Navigator that a chatbot window opens directly inside of Navigator. Companion is the same chatbot window, but lives within its own application allowing you to access your deployed flows in Navigator from mobile devices or your desktop!
Getting Started with Companion
Installing the Required Applications
To run Companion and deploy flows to it, you'll need to install and set up Navigator first.
- Open Navigator, create your account, and sign in.
- Now that Navigator is running, open the Companion app and sign in using the same credentials you created above.
You now have a private and personal AI assistant that can chat with your Deployments created in Navigator!
Understanding Companion Interface
Threads, Attachments, Search
- Threads: Create new conversation threads using the left panel
- Attachments: Automatically created by Companion when generating content
- Search: Search existing conversation threads
Pre-Loaded Models
Companion comes with several pre-loaded models that you can choose from.
Click on the New Conversation dropdown at the top of the chat to see the available models.
If you would like to use a different model than the selected preloaded one you will need to click the Install button next to the desired model
Once installed, you can now use that model within Companion!
Starting a Chat
Once you begin a chat conversation inside of Companion, this will create a conversation thread in the left panel
This is also where you will see your LLM based Deployments created in Navigator. If you would like to create a custom LLM Chatbot to test this out checkout Building Your First Custom LLM Chatbot.
- The thread will have a default name created based on your initial question or statement.
- If you Right Click on the thread name you can Rename, Copy Transcript, or Delete the thread.
- If any of the chat responses generate an attachment, those can be accessed in the right side panel. You can open this panel by:
- Clicking on the generated file
- Click the panel icon in the top right corner
- Swiping left (Mobile Only)
- You can search the context of existing chat threads using the Search bar in the top left corner
Settings
Click the gear icon in the bottom left corner next to your profile
This will open the Settings for your Companion application which include:
- Account
- App
- About
